It is not news to anyone that finding and securing IT talent is no easy task. But, what you might not know is that your reputation could be making the process more difficult and more expensive. Many of the nation’s most reputable companies are major players in the technology sector. Microsoft, Sony, Samsung, and Apple make the computers, smartphones, and TVs that many Americans use everyday. This makes IT professionals very aware of companies with good reputations – and bad.

A recent study from CR Magazine revealed:

Candidates are extremely hesitant to join a company with a bad reputation.

Those who may be willing to accept a job offer require a significant pay raise.

Males require an average of a 53% pay increase, females require 60% pay raise.

What leads to a company’s turn in reputation? The top factors which have damaged reputations in the last decade are:

 Criminal Activity

 Data and Privacy Breaches

 Irresponsible Financial
 Management

 Discriminatory Actions

Business leaders know having a good reputation will benefit a business in many ways, from the subtle to the obvious - ranging from consumer preference to market value. It is important to realize the role reputation can play in making or breaking your IT recruitment efforts. The best talent is in high demand, and often able to choose from a variety of IT job options. Make sure your company has the reputation to keep your name in the running with the best!
